Everything is going to be ok again!
Comic as Concept - Oliver Grajewski is Tigerboy 3 to 6 June 2010 Opening hours: Thu noon–10 p.m., Fri/Sat 10 a.m.–10 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Frühere Galerie Beck
Time cuts: the term that Oliver Grajewski plays with is characteristic for his art. The word time implies never-ending continuity. Cuts in time, cuts into time – that are tech-niques used by cinema, but also by memory.
Oliver Grajewski uses similar means to describe the world and his existence in this world through his art. This art is seen as comics because it keeps coming back to images in panels and keeps confronting images with stories. Often there are real confrontations between text and image, especially in Grajewski’s magazine “Tiger-boy”.
Olivr Grajewski uses the visual pool of the worldwide phenomenon comics with great aplomb and technical conciseness. The spectrum of his lines runs from an expres-sive eruption of lines and shading to precise figural shapes. This is how he creates cityscapes as in “tokio, rückwärtstagebuch” with Kathrin Röggla, autobiographic memory films like the story “Jenseits der Zeit” or homages to the world of comics such as “Kimba, Captain Future and Mariah Carey” – short cuts to the complexity of the real.
