Erlangen Arcaden

Strange things have been seen in the last few years. The duck tribe and its followers have crept into the cultures of the world more and more visibly. So how can we be sure which cultural pieces were made by humans? The Duckomenta, a collection of paintings and sculptures, proves that ducks had a stronger influence than we could ever have imagined. The artists’ group “interDuck” that is behind the “Duckomenta” was founded in 1982. This was the year in which Prof. Dr. Eckhart Bauer met the artists who would later become members of the group to playfully explore something special using the means of art. Since the first exhibition “Duckburg is Everywhere” – that premiered at the 2nd Erlangen International Comic Salon in 1986 – “interDuck” has shown its growing collection at museums all over the world. More than one million visitors have been won over by the power of this exhibition. The exhibition in the Erlangen Arcaden for the 14th Erlangen International Comic Salon presents 100 works from the Duckomenta collection, among them some new discoveries. Prof. Dr. Eckhart Bauer, Anke Doepner, Prof. Volker Schönwart, Rüdiger Stanko and Ommo Wille are currently active members of “interDuck”. The exhibition is accompanied by the new and extensive book “Art of the Duckomenta“ (Ehapa Comic Collection, 49,95 Euro).
